Your website will include a choice of response forms. The standard form opens a small confirmation window and the viewer remains on the form page. Nice and easy.

Maybe you need something a bit more complicated. There's nothing to stop you having anything you like on your website forms. It may be a job application form, an 'open an account' form, or a form that works out prices automatically.

Forms can make or break your website. If people don't like your forms, or simply don't understand them, they won't fill them in - and you've lost an enquiry.

'Thank you' pages

Custom forms can also take the visitor to an editable 'thank you' page. On the 'thank you' page you can tell your visitor what will happen next - it's a nice touch. A 'thank you' page also allows you to measure the success rate of your form page in your web stats. That means you can find out what percentage of people that look at the form actually fill it in - invaluable information!

What happens when someone fills in a form?

The contents of the form get sent to you as an email. In the CMS you an set which email address the form gets delivered to.

What's the silliest thing we see on web forms?

The winner by a long stretch is the 'Reset' button right next to the 'Submit' button. How many times have you inadvertently clicked the reset button by mistake and wiped out the information you just spent ages entering?

There is no earthly sense in having a reset button on a regular web form, yet we continue to see them. Why would you want to erase a form? We figure it's because web designers think it makes them look clever.
