What about my domain name (www address)?

If you already have a domain name you have two options:

1) Transfer administration of the domain and leave it all to us. In the case of UK domains you will pay us when the domain needs to be renewed. In the case of international domains the transfer automatically adds one year to the existing registration period, for which we will send an invoice when the transfer is complete. See domain prices.

2) Change your domain to use our DNS server. In this case you continue to pay your existing supplier for your domain name renewals.

Most people find that the first option is easier in the long run.

Our domain renewal prices are lower than many providers but higher than some. Generally, low cost domain providers save money by providing a fully automated service, which is usually fine so long as you know what you are doing. Some providers, such as UK2, do not have a telephone line which means that resolving problems can sometimes be tricky.

Having your domain with a low cost provider can save a few pounds a year, but it does mean that in the event of a domain related problem, you may not get the  level of service that you would expect. Having your domain and website looked after by two different companies can also make it more difficult to resolve domain or DNS issues, should they arise.

If you are registering a new domain and are considering using a low cost provider, be aware that they may make a charge if you want to move your domain away from them. There is no charge to move your domain away from 123Live.
