123Live Content Management System (CMS)
compared to EditPages
EditPages (see www.editpages.com) is like an online version of Dreamweaver or Frontpage, and the same issues apply. EditPages requires that you have a good understanding of HTML and CSS.
Unlike the 123Live CMS, EditPages does not have any 'structure'. Each page is a stand alone HTML file which has no relationship with any other page. Content such as menus, banners, footers, sidebars etc. cannot be common to multiple pages. If you edit an item it will only change on that one web page.
EditPages is very flexible from a designer's point of view, and this is where it is targeted. There are hundreds of options for each element on the page and anything on the page can be re-styled or moved or resized.
Non-expert users cannot simply get on with the job of adding content within a structured framework. It is very easy to mess up the whole design while making a simple change, and cleaning up the mess would require a professional.
EditPages does not generate menus, whereas the 123Live CMS automatically puts a new page into the menu, and users can then drag the page to wherever they want it to appear.
For a professional web designer requiring a quick and easy way to edit parts of an existing 'hard wired' website, EditPages provides the flexibility to do this from any PC.
For a non-technical user that needs fast results without a steep learning curve we recommend the 123Live Content Management System (CMS).
